Welcome to the Santa Ynez Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plan Website.  This website provides updated, resources and links to hazard mitigation in support of the Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plan Project.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The goal of the Santa Ynez Tribal Hazard Mitigation (THMP) is to save lives and property through the reduction of hazard vulnerability of the Tribal Community.  During the course of this planning project, local Tribal leaders, Tribal Entities,  Tribal Departments and local Stakeholders along with the Tribal community will work in tandem to identify risks, assess capabilities and formulate a strategy to reduce disaster vulnerability.  These partners will participate in a Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plan Steering Committee.

By participating in the planning process, the Tribe will be eligible to apply for and receive grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reduce to vulnerability of the affected Tribal Community.  Reducing vulnerability to disasters helps to break the cycle of disaster and ensures a sustainable future for the next generation.
