SYCEO participates in many educational events throughout the year. Some of these include Chumash Earth Day, Chumash Pow Wow, and Camp K. Our goal is to educate the public with our knowledge of the environment, so that together we can aim for a more sustainable society.

Chumash Earth Day
SYCEO hosts an annual Earth Day event for the community. We encourage families to come out and engage in different environmental organizations along with various nature activities. We wish for everyone to take Earth Day as a time to really appreciate Mother Earth and all that she offers us. By engaging the community in a fun-filled Earth day, we hope that it will influence them to make better decisions about their environmental behavior.

Homework Club
SYCEO collaborates with the Tribal Learning Center to teach the youth about the environment. It is our goal to educate children early on, so that it positively influences their future behavior.
Camp Kalawashaq
For this years Camp K, SYCEO created a checklist of activities that children had to complete in order to receive their badge prizes. There were 8 different tasks including: Gardener, Take a Hike, Star Gazer, Water Specialist, Animal Whisperer, Plant Identifier, Clean & Green, and the final one, Environmentalist, that they received only if they completed all of the tasks.
