SYCEO participates in many educational events throughout the year. Some of these include Chumash Earth Day, Chumash Pow Wow, and Camp K. Our goal is to educate the public with our knowledge of the environment, so that together we can aim for a more sustainable society.
SYCEO partners with the Tribal Learning Center to offer engaging educational opportunities for youth focused on environmental conservation. Our goal is to instill a deep understanding and appreciation for nature at a young age, shaping their attitudes and actions for a more sustainable future.

Chumash Earth Day
SYCEO hosts an annual Earth Day event for the community. We highly encourage families to participate and interact with different environmental organizations while enjoying a variety of nature-based activities. Our goal is for everyone to use Earth Day as an opportunity to truly value Mother Earth and recognize all the gifts she provides. Through active participation in a lively Earth Day celebration, we aim to inspire individuals to consider and improve their environmental practices.
For this year's Camp K, the Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office (SYCEO) designed and organized a fun and engaging scavenger hunt for all participants at the Tribal Nursery. Campers were challenged to solve a series of thoughtfully crafted riddles, each one guiding them to different important locations within the Tribal Nursery. At these designated spots, they discovered unique stamps, which they then used to mark the corresponding spaces on their clue sheets. Successfully collecting all the stamps allowed them to complete the activity, fostering both learning and excitement throughout the event.
