In August, Carmen Sandoval led the creation of the new Community Garden behind the Tribal Government offices. The first planting took place on August 11th and by September there was already a bounty of vegetables and herbs for students to harvest during the SYCEO & Education departments’ After School Program.
- On September 14th the students all got involved in painting a mural for the compost bin and there was additional planting with the Sons and Daughters of Tradition.
- On September 24th a basket of zucchini, rainbow chard, arugula and cilantro was offered to the Elder’s Council.
- In October students harvested yellow and green zucchini, carrots and beets.
