Congratulations Tim Ochoa, Certified Building Analyst!
Congratulations to SYCEO staff member and tribal descendant Tim Ochoa on becoming certified as a Building Performance Institute Building Analyst Professional (BPI-BA) today! He earned a 100% score on the rigorous field test, which is quite an accomplishment. Tim has been performing home assessments for tribal homes on and off reservation for close to a year, testing these homes for health, comfort, safety, and energy efficiency, and providing recommendations to the tribal community on how they can inexpensively improve the performance of their homes and save money on energy bills.
Tim is now the lead home assessor for the Chumash Community Energy Program
(CCEP), and will be helping the Santa Ynez Chumash community lower its environmental impact while saving money in a number of ways. He has received extensive training in many aspects of building performance, including solar installation and upgrade techniques like air sealing, duct sealing and insulation. He recently used this training to lead an upgrade of tribal member Reggie Pagaling’s home. From Reggie:
It takes much less energy to heat and cool my house now that the CCEP team air sealed and reinsulated my attic. I was happy to be a part of this program that provides job training to tribal descendants, and having an affordable home upgrade was an added bonus!
If you are part of the Santa Ynez Chumash community, and you are interested in having Tim and the rest of the SYCEO Energy Team assess your home for free, perform inexpensive upgrades that will save you money, or investigate your solar energy potential, contact Lars Davenport: email@example.com

And be sure to congratulate Tim on this major step in his environmental career!
