Indian Country Today names Chumash, SYCEO top climate change fighter
The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians was touted as one of the top tribes in the nation fighting climate change and doing what it can to mitigate against the risks at are already affecting the environment, livelihoods and lands across the U.S. by Indian Country Today. The Chumash Casino Resort and SYCEO were recognized for our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through building efficiency and  alternative energy and fuels. The Chumash are reorganized alongside other tribes such as the Nez Perce, Swinomish, Mescalero Apache and others. We are thrilled to be recognized for our work. The Chumash Environmental Office continues to work on initiatives supporting sustainability measures through programs that support alternative fuels and energy, reduction of waste, habitat restoration, water quality and conservation, and more.
