SYCEO Hosts Coastal Cleanup Day – Saturday, September 21

With Labor Day now over, we turn our attention to the fall and reminisce of days spent barbecuing, at the pool and at the beach. But we live on the Central Coast of California, where summer can hang on well into fall and even winter, so why should we stop all these fun summer activities?! The Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office is giving back to our beaches and hanging on to the good days of summer by participating in a California-wide campaign to clean our coasts and beaches. On Saturday, September 21, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM join the SYCEO for Coastal Cleanup Day at El Capitan State Beach. The event will feature games, a barbecue, a raffle, and of course, a beach cleanup! This year's event is open to the public and appropriate for all ages. Early birds will be awarded with free parking and an extra raffle ticket. The SYCEO is offering a free shuttle leaving from the Tribal Hall at 8:30 AM and returning after the event is over at 3:00 PM. To join us for this fun event, please RSVP to Julie Colbert by September 16th at jrandall@santaynezchumash.org or 805.691.1329. Hope to see you there!
